About Canela Airport
Canela Airport is a small regional airport serving Canela and Gramado, two of the most visited towns in the Serra Gaúcha region of Rio Grande do Sul. The airport was opened to public air traffic in 1986 and has been operated by Infraero since 2024.
Located about 3 km from downtown Canela and roughly 8 km from downtown Gramado, the airport provides a convenient gateway for leisure and business travel in the mountain region. Recent improvements widened the runway to 30 metres and extended it to 1,340 metres, allowing the airport to receive larger regional aircraft such as the ATR 72.
The airport currently handles general and executive aviation, with ongoing efforts to resume regular domestic flights. Its single terminal and upgraded apron provide basic passenger handling for arrivals, departures and private aircraft operations.
Canela and Gramado are reached by local roads, while Porto Alegre lies approximately 120 km away. The airport supports onward travel by private transfer, taxi, chauffeur service and rental car to hotels, resorts and attractions across the Serra Gaúcha.
