Camp Shorabak Airfield (OAZ)

Camp Shorabak Airfield is a military airfield located northwest of Lashkargah in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The site was established as Camp Bastion in 2006 to support British operations in southern Afghanistan and grew into one of the busiest UK-run military airfields, handling up to 600 fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft movements per day at its peak in 2011. After the British and US withdrawal in 2014, the base was handed to Afghan forces and renamed Camp Shorabak.

The airfield has a single paved runway of about 3,500 metres, together with apron and helicopter operating areas and a control tower. It now functions as an Afghan Ministry of Defense airbase supporting military aviation rather than scheduled commercial passenger services.

The airfield lies in a remote desert area roughly 35 km northwest of Lashkargah and near Gereshk. Road access to the provincial capital and surrounding districts is possible, though ground travel is generally arranged through military or authorized transport rather than regular public services.

Because it is primarily a military facility, public passenger amenities are limited. Travelers and authorized personnel should confirm access, security and ground transport arrangements in advance.
