About Cachoeira do Sul Airport
Cachoeira do Sul Airport, officially known as Aeródromo Municipal Brigadeiro Nero Moura, is a small public airfield serving Cachoeira do Sul in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It is named in honour of Brigadeiro Nero Marques Moura, a Cachoeira do Sul-born pilot who commanded the Brazilian Air Force's 1st Fighter Aviation Group during the Second World War.
Administered by the municipality of Cachoeira do Sul, the airfield is used mainly for agricultural aviation, supporting crop-spraying operations across the region, as well as occasional executive and private flights. It also hosts agricultural pilot training and aircraft maintenance activities.
Located about 8 km from the city centre on the road to Ferreira, the airfield has a single asphalt runway of around 1,000 metres and operates only during daylight hours by visual approach. There are no regular scheduled commercial flights.
Road access connects the airfield to the city centre, and the surrounding area is served by highways such as BR-290 and BR-287. For commercial travel, the nearest regional airports are in Santa Cruz do Sul and Santa Maria, while Porto Alegre is about 170 km away.
