About Buffalo Range Airport
Buffalo Range Airport is the main airport serving Chiredzi in Masvingo Province, in Zimbabwe's South Eastern Lowveld. Located about 10 kilometres northwest of Chiredzi, it functions as a gateway to some of the region's most important wildlife and safari areas. The airfield has a long history, having operated as a forward air field during the Rhodesian Bush War.
The airport has a single bitumen runway measuring about 1,578 metres in length and 30 metres in width, with capacity to accommodate aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 737-700 executive series. It primarily handles private flights and non-scheduled charter operations, and Federal Air provides weekly scheduled charter flights from O.R. Tambo International Airport on Mondays and Thursdays.
Customs and immigration services are available through the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, and the airport also offers port health and meteorological services. Operating hours are normally from 0700 to 1700 local time, with Jet A-1 and Avgas refuelling facilities and Category 5 fire cover on site.
