About Bost Airport
Bost Airport serves Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan. The airport is a key regional link for domestic travel, connecting the city with other parts of Afghanistan.
Established in 1957 and modernized through a rehabilitation project that began in 2008, the airport was reopened with a new runway and terminal in June 2009. Its asphalt runway measures about 2,300 metres and is among the longest in Afghanistan.
Located near the Helmand River, roughly 8 km from the centre of Lashkargah, the airport is reached by road. Travelers typically continue to the city by taxi or pre-arranged private transfer.
The airport has a single compact terminal with basic passenger facilities. It functions mainly as a regional and domestic gateway, with limited services compared with major international airports.
