Bobo Dioulasso Airport serves Bobo-Dioulasso, the second-largest city and a key commercial centre in western Burkina Faso's Hauts-Bassins region. It handles domestic and international flights and is the main gateway for travellers visiting the southwest of the country.
Located about four kilometres southwest of the city centre, the airport has a single runway and one passenger terminal. A modernization programme is underway to build a larger terminal able to accommodate at least 1.5 million passengers a year, along with supporting hotel and convention facilities.
The airport offers basic passenger services in the terminal, including a bank counter, ATM and medical assistance, with taxis and car rental available for onward travel. Hotels and restaurants are concentrated in central Bobo-Dioulasso, a short drive away.
Its compact size and proximity to the city make arrival and departure relatively straightforward. From here, travellers can continue to Bobo-Dioulasso's business districts or to destinations such as Banfora, the Karfiguéla waterfalls and the Sindou Peaks.
