Bilbao Airport is the main international airport serving Bilbao and the wider Basque Country. It is located in the municipality of Loiu, around 12 kilometres north of central Bilbao, and connects the region with domestic Spanish routes and international destinations across Europe.
The airport’s distinctive single passenger terminal was designed by Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2000. Arrivals are handled on Level 1, while check-in, security and boarding access are located on Level 3, keeping most passenger movement within one building.
Bilbao Airport has no metro or train link, but the Bizkaibus A3247 bus runs frequently to central Bilbao and the intermodal station. Taxis, private transfers and car rental desks are also available at the terminal, making onward travel to the city centre and the Basque coast straightforward.
