Bender Qassim International Airport is the main airport serving Bosaso, a major commercial and port city in the Puntland region of northeastern Somalia. Also known as Bosaso International Airport, it provides an important air link for domestic travel within Somalia and for regional and international connections.
Located on the outskirts of Bosaso, the airport lies only a few kilometres from the city centre and serves both business and leisure travelers visiting the Gulf of Aden coast. Construction of the modern international airport began in 2007, with support from United Arab Emirates-based financiers, and a new runway foundation stone was laid in December 2014.
The airport operates through a compact passenger terminal, with ongoing improvements to runway and terminal infrastructure. Facilities are relatively basic but include check-in, security, immigration and a waiting area for passengers.
