Bayankhongor Airport is the main air gateway for Bayankhongor, the capital of Bayankhongor Province in central Mongolia. The airport is a joint civil and military facility operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia and mainly serves domestic scheduled and charter flights.
The airport is located about 2.2 km from the centre of Bayankhongor, close to the provincial capital. It has a single passenger terminal, a paved runway of approximately 2,800 m and a secondary grass runway, with the airfield sitting at an elevation of around 1,855 m.
Scheduled flights connect Bayankhongor with Ulaanbaatar and other regional destinations such as Altai, with MIAT Mongolian Airlines operating domestic services. Given the short distance to town, taxis and private transfers are the main onward options, and the terminal provides basic passenger facilities while most dining and accommodation options are found in Bayankhongor itself.
