About Batajnica Air Base
Batajnica Air Base, also known as Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović Air Base, is the main military air base of Serbia. It lies between Batajnica and Nova Pazova, around 25 km northwest of central Belgrade, and serves as a key hub for Serbian Air Force and Air Defence operations. Construction of the base began in 1947 and it was officially opened in 1951.
The airfield operates two concrete runways and one grass runway with four aprons, making it the largest military airport in Serbia and the only one in the country with two asphalt runways. Its infrastructure supports a wide range of military aviation, maintenance and training activities.
Located close to the Belgrade to Novi Sad road corridor, the base is connected by road to Batajnica, Zemun and the Belgrade city centre. A small passenger building handles limited passenger flights and includes passport control facilities when required.
For travellers, the air base offers limited public facilities, so onward journeys are usually completed by road to Belgrade and surrounding towns. Its position northwest of the capital provides convenient access toward Novi Sad and the wider Vojvodina region.
