About Zlatibor

Zlatibor is Serbia's most popular mountain resort, set on the forested Zlatibor plateau in western Serbia at around 1,000 metres above sea level. Pine forests, grassy meadows and a cool mountain climate give the town a relaxed, open-air character that draws families, wellness guests and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the year.

The settlement began as Kraljeve Vode (King's Waters) and became known as a royal and health retreat after King Aleksandar Obrenović visited in 1893. It was renamed Zlatibor in 1946 and has since grown into a modern resort with hotels, apartments, restaurants and a busy pedestrian centre around King's Square.

Landmarks and activities include the panoramic Gold Gondola cable car to the Tornik ski area, the limestone terraces and underground streams of Stopića Cave, and the open-air Staro Selo museum at Sirogojno, which preserves 19th-century log houses and rural crafts. Families also visit Dino Park, El Paso City and the small lake at King's Square, while the Gostilje Waterfall and Tornik's slopes offer outdoor trips in the surrounding countryside.

The town centre around King's Square is compact and walkable, while quieter accommodation spreads through Čajetina and villages such as Ribnica, Kriva Reka and Sirogojno. Nearby Mokra Gora and the Šargan Eight heritage railway, together with Tara National Park, make Zlatibor a convenient base for exploring western Serbia.

For business travellers, Zlatibor hosts conferences, corporate retreats and year-round events in a setting that combines fresh air with modern meeting facilities. Its mix of nature, wellness, local food and mountain activities makes it relevant for both leisure stays and organised events.
