Bassatine Airport is a military air base serving Meknes, in the Fès-Meknès region of northern Morocco. Operated by the Royal Moroccan Air Force, it is also known as the Second Royal Air Force Base and carries the codes MEK and GMFM. The site sits at an elevation of about 576 metres and has two asphalt runways.
The airfield has a long military history. It was developed as an aviation field in the early twentieth century and later served as a French air force training base before passing to Moroccan command in 1961, when it became the Second Air Base of the Royal Moroccan Air Force.
Today the airport mainly supports military, training, general aviation and charter activity rather than regular commercial passenger services. Travelers using scheduled airline flights in the region generally rely on nearby Fès–Saïs Airport, while Bassatine Airport remains an operational and security-focused facility.
Located about 6 km by road from central Meknes, the airport is reached by local roads and can be used with private transfers, taxis or rental cars. Its position makes it a practical entry point for Meknes, Volubilis, Moulay Idriss and other destinations in the surrounding area, although passenger facilities on site are limited.
