Bantry Aerodrome (BYT)

Bantry Aerodrome is a small, privately owned airfield serving the town of Bantry and the West Cork region of Ireland. Located about 3 km west-southwest of Bantry town centre, near Bantry Bay, it functions primarily as a general aviation facility for private flights, light aircraft and pilot training rather than as a commercial passenger airport.

The aerodrome operates a single runway, designated 07/25, which is approximately 390 metres long and suitable for light aircraft. Flights are conducted under visual flight rules in daylight hours, and prior permission is required before landing. Commercial airline services do not operate from the airfield; scheduled regional and international traffic is handled by nearby Cork Airport and Kerry Airport.

Ground access is straightforward by road, and the short drive into Bantry town centre takes only a few minutes by taxi, private transfer or pre-arranged car. On-site passenger facilities and transport services are limited, so onward travel is best arranged in advance.

Despite its small scale, the aerodrome provides a useful gateway to Bantry Bay, the Sheep's Head and Beara Peninsulas and the wider Wild Atlantic Way for private and general aviation travellers.
