About Austin Airport

Austin Airport (ASQ) is a public-use general aviation airport serving the town of Austin and Lander County in central Nevada. Located about five miles southwest of the town center along the US-50 corridor, it provides air access for private and charter flights into Nevada's rural Great Basin region.

The airport was activated in February 1943 and is owned by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. It operates a single asphalt runway, 01/19, measuring 5,999 by 75 feet, with an apron, tiedown areas, and a small terminal building. There is no control tower, and the field is unattended.

As a general aviation facility, Austin Airport does not handle scheduled airline service or commercial passenger screening. Travelers typically continue to Austin and nearby communities by private car, transfer, or rental vehicle, with Battle Mountain, Eureka, and Fallon among the region's road connections.

The airport offers self-service 100LL and Jet A fuel, transient tiedown parking, and a courtesy car. At about 5,735 feet above sea level, it serves flights across the high desert of central Nevada, while most commercial airline travel to the region uses larger airports such as Reno.
