About Atauro Airport
Atauro Airport is a small island airstrip serving Atauro Island, about 25–30 km north of Dili in Timor-Leste. It mainly supports short flights across the water from Dili, including Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) services, and plays a practical role for residents, visitors and medical evacuation links to the mainland.
The airstrip is located near Beloi village and has a single gravel runway. It operates only during daylight and has no passenger terminal building, so arrivals and departures are kept simple, with limited infrastructure on site.
Because Atauro is an island, the airport works together with boat connections from Beloi. Visitors usually combine a short flight or ferry crossing with local road transport to guesthouses, beaches and well-known dive and snorkelling areas around the island.
For travelers heading onward, the main link is Dili, reached by a short flight of roughly 15 minutes or a ferry crossing of around 2–3 hours, depending on sea conditions.
