Aleppo International Airport is the main international gateway for Aleppo and the surrounding northern region of Syria. The airport serves domestic and international flights and connects travellers to Aleppo, one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, as well as nearby towns across northern Syria.
The airport's history dates back to the early 20th century, and its current terminal was inaugurated in 1999. The four-floor terminal combines modern and Islamic architecture and handles arrivals, departures, check-in, security and passenger services within a single complex.
Located roughly 7 km east of central Aleppo, the airport is reached by road, with taxis and pre-arranged transfers providing onward connections to the city centre. After years of disruption during the Syrian civil war, the airport underwent rehabilitation work and resumed operations in 2025.
Passengers can use facilities including duty-free shopping, restaurants and cafés, currency exchange and ATMs, information services, a prayer room and parking, making the airport a practical entry point for visitors to northern Syria.
