About Agra Airport
Agra Airport (AGR), also known as Kheria Airport, is a domestic airport and Indian Air Force base serving the city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh. The site originated as Royal Air Forces Station Agra during World War II, and Agra Air Force Station was formally established on 15 August 1947. Today the civil enclave is jointly operated with the Airports Authority of India.
Located about 6 km east of central Agra, the airport offers a convenient entry point for visitors travelling to the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and other major heritage sites in the region. It serves domestic routes and connects Agra with cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Lucknow and Mumbai.
The airport currently has one operational domestic terminal, with a planned second terminal to support future growth. The civil terminal is designed to handle approximately 250 arriving and 250 departing passengers at peak times, with check-in, security, arrivals and passenger facilities consolidated in a single building.
Agra Airport is reached by road through taxis, app-based cabs and autorickshaws, making onward travel to the city centre, hotels and monuments straightforward. Its compact size, essential passenger services and proximity to Agra's main attractions make it a practical gateway for domestic travellers.
