About Acadiana Regional Airport

Acadiana Regional Airport is a public-use general aviation airport owned by Iberia Parish Government and managed by the Iberia Parish Airport Authority. Located about 4 nautical miles (7 km) northwest of central New Iberia, Louisiana, it serves as a general aviation, corporate, charter, and offshore helicopter gateway for the Acadiana region.

Opened in 1944, the airport was operated by the U.S. Navy as Naval Auxiliary Air Station New Iberia from 1960 to 1965 before returning to civilian control. Today it supports helicopter operations for the offshore oil and gas industry, flight training, and cross-country training flights for NASA and the U.S. military.

The airfield features an 8,002-foot concrete runway with instrument approaches, a staffed air traffic control tower, and the Brigadier General Wiltz P. Segura Passenger Terminal alongside the Freeman Jet Center fixed-base operator. The airport does not have scheduled commercial airline service, but it handles charter, corporate, and VIP flights.

Situated along US Highway 90, the future Interstate 49 corridor, the airport lies between Houston and New Orleans and is about 11 nautical miles southeast of Lafayette Regional Airport. It provides convenient road access to New Iberia, Lafayette, the Port of Iberia, and the broader Cajun Coast.
