About Escaldes-Engordany

Escaldes-Engordany is Andorra's second-largest town and parish, joined seamlessly with the capital, Andorra la Vella, along the Gran Valira river. Set high in the Pyrenees, it combines a compact urban centre with easy access to mountain scenery, shopping and one of the region's best-known wellness attractions.

The town grew around natural thermal springs, and the striking glass towers of Caldea spa now symbolise its identity as a thermal destination. The older Engordany district retains a more historic character, while the modern Escaldes area is known for its shopping streets and the Illa Carlemany commercial centre.

Notable landmarks include the medieval Pont de la Tosca bridge, the nearby Romanesque church of Sant Miquel d'Engolasters, and the Carmen Thyssen Museum Andorra, which displays European and American art. The Centre d'Art d'Escaldes-Engordany (CAEE) hosts changing exhibitions in a former cinema building.

The parish also touches the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and offers walking routes, the Roc del Metge thermal spring and access to Pyrenean hiking and ski terrain. The neighbouring capital is a short walk or bus ride away, adding restaurants, business services and administrative landmarks.

For travellers, Escaldes-Engordany works well for both leisure and business: it offers thermal spas, museums, shopping, comfortable hotels and quick access to Andorra's main commercial district, all within a compact high-mountain setting.
