About Wrangell Airport
Wrangell Airport is the public-use airport serving Wrangell, a city and borough on Wrangell Island in Southeast Alaska. The community has no road connection to the outside world, so the airport works together with the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system to keep the town linked to the rest of the state.
Located about one nautical mile (2 km) northeast of central Wrangell, the airport has a single asphalt runway, designated 10/28, measuring approximately 6,000 by 150 feet. Scheduled passenger service is provided by Alaska Airlines and supported by the federal Essential Air Service program, with general aviation also using the field.
The passenger terminal is a compact, privately operated air carrier facility beside the runway. It includes a ticket counter, waiting area, restrooms and limited refreshment options, and the airport is an entry point with customs available by prior arrangement.
Ground access is simple because the airport sits only a short drive from downtown. Taxis, rental cars, hotel shuttles and private transfers connect the terminal with Wrangell's shops, lodgings and the ferry terminal.
