About Worland Municipal Airport

Worland Municipal Airport serves Worland and Washakie County as the main aviation gateway to Wyoming’s Bighorn Basin. The city-owned airport was built in 1953 and has long supported general aviation, business, agricultural and public-use flights in the region.

Located about three miles south of Worland, the airport no longer has scheduled commercial airline service after Great Lakes Airlines ended flights in 2016. It remains a Part 139-certificated general aviation facility with a 7,000-foot asphalt runway capable of handling a range of private, charter and service aircraft.

The airport is reached quickly from the city by road, and travel to the centre of Worland normally takes only a few minutes by car, taxi or private transfer. Its location also provides convenient access to surrounding attractions, including Thermopolis Hot Springs, the Bighorn Mountains and destinations across northern Wyoming.

Hellyer Aviation serves as the fixed-base operator, providing fuel, maintenance, hangar space, a pilot lounge and ground support. With its compact terminal, parking and general aviation amenities, WRL offers a practical, low-traffic arrival point for visitors travelling by private or charter aircraft.
