Winkler County Airport is a county-owned, public-use airport serving Wink, the Winkler County area, and the surrounding Permian Basin region of West Texas. The facility primarily supports general aviation, including private, business, and agricultural flights, rather than scheduled airline service.
The airport opened in August 1941 as Wink Field and was used by the United States Army Air Forces as a training base. It later became a general aviation facility and is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems.
Located about three miles northwest of Wink and roughly ten miles from the county seat of Kermit, the airport provides road access to nearby communities and the wider region. It has two asphalt runways, with the longest measuring about 5,003 feet, and a county-operated fixed-base operator offering fuel and ground services.
With 24-hour self-service fuel availability, lighted runways, and local weather reporting, the airport supports pilots and passengers travelling across a lightly populated but active part of West Texas.
