Wilmington Airport (ILG) is Delaware's only commercial-service airport and a convenient regional gateway for Wilmington, New Castle County and the wider Delaware Valley. Located about five miles south of downtown Wilmington, the airport provides an easy alternative to larger hubs for travelers across northern Delaware and the Philadelphia region.
Established in 1941 as Delaware's first public airport and operated by the Delaware River and Bay Authority since 1995, ILG has long supported general aviation, corporate flying and military operations alongside scheduled passenger service. Today Avelo Airlines operates nonstop routes from the airport, while American Airlines connects ILG passengers to Philadelphia International Airport by scheduled motorcoach.
The airport uses one compact terminal with short walking distances, fast check-in and security screening, and a recently expanded gate and seating area. Passengers benefit from parking next to the terminal, a new baggage carousel, and a low-stress layout designed for quicker departures and arrivals.
