Wilbarger County Airport is a county-owned, public-use general aviation airport serving Vernon and Wilbarger County in North Texas. It provides access for private, business, agricultural and charter flying across the Red River Valley region.
The airport has military-era roots. It was activated on September 23, 1942, as Vernon Airport and used for basic Army Air Forces flying training until March 31, 1945. It later became a civil general aviation facility, and a new terminal building was constructed in 1974.
The field has two asphalt runways: Runway 02/20 and Runway 16/34. An on-site FBO supplies aviation fuel, flight support, courtesy cars and basic passenger amenities for pilots and visitors.
