Whiting Field Naval Air Station North (NSE)

Whiting Field Naval Air Station North is a military flight training airfield about four miles north of Milton in Santa Rosa County, in the Florida Panhandle. Established in July 1943 as part of what became Naval Air Station Whiting Field, it supports primary flight training for Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aviators rather than scheduled airline traffic.

The North Field operates two runways, 5/23 and 14/32, under military control and requires prior permission for transient civilian aircraft. It sits north of the companion South Field and provides a controlled environment for training operations, with a tower, instrument approaches and aviation fuel available to authorized users.

Road access links the installation to Milton and to Pensacola, which lies roughly 33 miles to the southwest, while Pensacola International Airport is about 17 nautical miles away. The area uses Central Time, and local highways support onward travel across the Florida Panhandle and Gulf Coast.

Because this is an active training base, it has no public passenger terminal, shops or lounges, and travelers needing scheduled flights generally use nearby civilian airports.
