About Whitegrass Airport
Whitegrass Airport serves the island of Tanna in Vanuatu's southern Tafea province and is the main air link between the island and the rest of the country. Also known as Tanna Airport, it sits at Whitegrass on the western side of the island, about 8 km north of Lénakel.
The airport primarily handles domestic turboprop flights, particularly connections from Port Vila, and supports tourism and local travel across Vanuatu. Its asphalt runway is about 1,230 metres long, and the compact terminal manages a small number of flights each day. The airfield has its origins in a World War II military airstrip and was later developed for civilian and tourism use.
