Located about 8 miles northeast of downtown Wheeling, the airport sits on more than 1,000 acres and has two asphalt runways as well as a federally contracted control tower. Its terminal building opened in 1946 and remains a distinctive Art Deco landmark, now housing a small aviation history museum.
The airport's county-operated FBO provides aviation and jet fuel, flight training, aircraft maintenance, T-hangars, and corporate hangars. These services support area businesses, medevac operations, and general aviation pilots traveling through the Ohio Valley.
