Westsound Seaplane Base is a small floatplane gateway on Orcas Island in Washington’s San Juan Islands. It serves travelers moving by seaplane between Seattle and the islands, with Kenmore Air operating scheduled services to and from the dock at West Sound Marina.
The base was activated in January 1992 and is privately owned by West Sound Marina. It has water runways instead of paved runways and is used primarily for seaplane arrivals and departures, without a conventional passenger terminal.
Eastsound, Orcas Island’s main village, is about 11 km from the base and can be reached by road. The Washington State Ferries terminal at Orcas Island provides onward connections to Anacortes on the mainland, while taxis, private transfers and rental cars are available locally.
