About West Woodward Airport
West Woodward Airport is the main general aviation airport serving Woodward and western Oklahoma. The field opened as Woodward Army Airfield in 1943 and is owned and operated by the City of Woodward.
Located approximately six miles west of downtown Woodward, the airport has two runways: a 5,502-foot concrete primary runway and a shorter 2,500-foot asphalt runway. A new terminal building opened in 2026, replacing the original 1943 terminal.
The airport serves private, corporate and general aviation traffic rather than scheduled airline service, and it functions as a gateway for business travel and aviation activity across northwest Oklahoma and the surrounding High Plains region.
Woodward is reached by road from the airport, with connections to regional highways. Passenger facilities include the new terminal, fixed-base operator services, aircraft fueling, hangar space and parking, making the airport a practical stop for pilots and visitors to the area.
