Waterville Robert LaFleur Airport (WVL), also known today as Waterville Regional Airport, is a public-use general aviation airport serving Waterville and the central Maine region. Located about two miles southwest of downtown Waterville, it supports private aviation, flight training, skydiving and business travel rather than scheduled commercial airline service.
The airport opened in 1931 and was dedicated in 1947 to Captain Robert A. LaFleur, a U.S. Army Air Corps officer declared missing in action over Germany in 1943. It covers approximately 350 acres and operates two asphalt runways, 5/23 and 14/32, together with a general aviation terminal and aircraft storage.
The airport is reached from LaFleur Road, and the short drive to downtown Waterville allows convenient onward travel by rental car, taxi or private transfer to Colby College, the Belgrade Lakes area and other central Maine destinations.
