About Watertown International Airport
Watertown International Airport is the main airport serving Watertown, Jefferson County and the Thousand Islands region of northern New York. Located about six miles west of downtown Watertown near the village of Dexter, it connects the area to the national air network through daily scheduled service and also supports general aviation.
The airport opened its new 25,000-square-foot passenger terminal in November 2025, replacing the original terminal that had served travelers since 1947. The updated facility includes a spacious lobby, modern ticketing and baggage claim areas, expanded seating, and the airport's first passenger jet bridge.
American Eagle operates scheduled flights between Watertown and Philadelphia International Airport, giving travelers connections to a major hub with domestic and international routes. The airport's single runway also serves private and general aviation traffic, with FBO and fuel services available.
The airport is reached primarily by car via State Route 12F and Airport Drive, with free short- and long-term parking on site. Taxis, ride-share services, and rental cars provide onward travel to Watertown, Fort Drum, and nearby Thousand Islands communities such as Clayton and Alexandria Bay.
