About Ware Airport
Ware Airport is a small private-use general aviation airfield located in Ware, a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts. It carries the IATA code UWA and the FAA location identifier MA53, and it serves private aircraft rather than scheduled commercial flights.
The airfield opened in October 1947 and was formerly a public-use general aviation facility. It has a single turf runway oriented north–south, measuring about 2,030 by 150 feet, and sits roughly two miles northeast of the center of Ware.
Because the airport is privately owned, pilots must obtain permission before landing. There is no control tower and no on-site maintenance or fueling services; weather information is available from nearby automated reporting stations such as those at Worcester and Orange.
Ware Airport supports private aviation in central Massachusetts, with Ware center and nearby towns such as Palmer, Belchertown, and Barre a short drive away. Access is by road, and car-based onward travel is the most practical way to continue to surrounding communities and larger cities in the region.
