Wales Airport (WAA)

Wales Airport is a small state-owned public-use airport serving the village of Wales on the western tip of Alaska's Seward Peninsula. Located about 2 km northwest of the village centre, it is one of the most westerly airfields on the North American mainland and provides an essential connection for a remote coastal community on the Bering Strait.

The airport has a single gravel runway and a compact passenger building used for arrivals and departures. Scheduled flights are operated by small regional carriers such as Bering Air and Ryan Air, linking Wales with Nome and other communities in northwestern Alaska. Charter services also operate from the airfield.

There are no regular taxi or bus services at the airport. Local travel is usually arranged in advance, with residents and visitors commonly using ATVs or snowmachines depending on the season.

Passenger facilities are minimal, so travelers are advised to be self-sufficient and bring essential supplies. Weather along the coast can change quickly, and flights are frequently affected by fog and wind.
