Vladislav Ardzinba Sukhum International Airport is the main airport serving Sukhumi and Abkhazia's Black Sea coast region. It functions as the primary air gateway for travelers arriving from Russia, reconnecting the region by air after a long interruption in scheduled services.
Scheduled flights resumed on 1 May 2025, when the first Moscow–Sukhum flight landed after more than 30 years. Since then, the airport has undergone modernization of its airfield and terminal infrastructure, including a new passenger terminal complex opened in 2026.
Located in the village of Babushara near Dranda, about 20 km southeast of central Sukhumi, the airport has a single passenger terminal complex with separate arrival and departure halls. The renovated airfield can handle aircraft such as the Sukhoi Superjet 100, Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737.
Road links connect the airport to Sukhumi and coastal resorts including Gagra, Pitsunda, Gudauta and New Athos. Travelers can use taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars, with onward journeys along the coastal highway.
