Venice Municipal Airport (VNC)

Venice Municipal Airport is a city-managed general aviation airport serving Venice and the surrounding Sarasota County region on Florida's Gulf Coast. It primarily supports private, business and recreational aviation, flight training and aviation-related businesses rather than scheduled commercial airline service.

The airport opened in 1942 as the Venice Army Air Base, where the U.S. Army Air Forces trained fighter pilots and mechanics during World War II. In 1947, the federal government transferred the property to the City of Venice, and the site has since operated as a municipal general aviation facility.

Located about 2 miles south of downtown Venice, the airport covers roughly 835 acres along the Gulf of Mexico and operates two asphalt runways. A fixed-base operator, Skyport Aviation, provides fuel, aircraft parking and passenger services, while an on-site café and flight school support day-to-day activity.

Road access is available via local streets connecting to US 41, with Venice's beaches, downtown and nearby communities such as Sarasota and Englewood within easy reach by car, taxi, private transfer or rental vehicle.
