Venetie Airport is a public-use airport serving the Gwich'in community of Venetie in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area of interior Alaska. Opened in 1959, it is privately owned and operated by the Venetie Tribal Government and remains the community's main air link.
The airport has a single gravel runway, 4/22, measuring 4,000 by 75 feet, and a small passenger terminal used mainly for scheduled air taxi service, charter flights and general aviation. It connects Venetie with Fairbanks, Fort Yukon and other communities in northern Alaska.
Venetie is not connected to Fairbanks by road, so the airport is essential for passenger travel, freight, mail and access to medical services. The village centre is about a mile from the airfield, and onward travel is usually arranged through local pickup, while Fairbanks is approximately 158 miles (254 km) away by air.
Airport facilities are limited and the airfield is unattended, so travelers should confirm flights and ground arrangements with their air carrier in advance. Even as a small remote airfield, it functions as a vital gateway for the region.
