About Vélizy-Villacoublay Air Base
Vélizy-Villacoublay Air Base is a French Air and Space Force facility located in the Yvelines department, about 13 km southwest of central Paris. Officially established as Air Base 107 in 1936, it serves as a key military aviation site and is home to units responsible for governmental and VIP air transport.
The base handles presidential, ministerial and military flights rather than regular commercial passenger traffic. Its operations are supported by a single asphalt runway and extensive hangar and apron infrastructure, with the ETEC transport squadron among its most prominent units.
Located near Vélizy-Villacoublay and Jouy-en-Josas, the airfield sits close to Versailles and major road links into Paris. This position allows official flights and support operations to connect quickly with the capital and government centres.
Because it is a military installation, public access and commercial passenger services are not available; travel for visitors and crews is typically arranged through authorized transport or private ground services to Paris, Versailles and surrounding areas.
