About Tucson International Airport

Tucson International Airport is the main airport serving Tucson, the University of Arizona and the wider southern Arizona region. The airport traces its roots to 1919, when Tucson established the first municipally owned airport in the United States, and it has operated at its current location since 1948 under the nonprofit Tucson Airport Authority.

Located about 10 miles south of downtown Tucson, TUS primarily handles domestic flights to major US hubs, with additional service supported by a US customs and immigration port of entry. The single main terminal is organized into Concourse A and Concourse B, and a separate C Gates facility opened in 2019 serves Allegiant Air and charter operations.

The airport is reached by road via Tucson Boulevard, Country Club Road and Plumer Avenue, and is served by taxis, ride-share services, public buses, private transfers and rental cars. This makes onward travel to the city centre, the university area and surrounding communities relatively straightforward.

With dining, shopping, lounges, Wi-Fi and other passenger amenities, the airport functions as a practical gateway for leisure and business travelers arriving in southern Arizona.
