About Tikehau Airport
Tikehau Airport is the only airport serving Tikehau atoll in the Tuamotu archipelago of French Polynesia. Opened in 1977, it links the atoll with Tahiti's Faa'a International Airport and other nearby Tuamotu islands through regular Air Tahiti flights.
The airport sits about 1 km southeast of Tuherahera, the atoll's main village, and has a single asphalt runway (6/24) and a small open-air terminal. Domestic flights to Papeete take roughly 55 minutes, making the atoll an accessible stop within the Tuamotus.
Because Tikehau is small, transfers between the airport, Tuherahera and island guesthouses are short; many accommodations arrange pick-ups, while visitors heading to outer motus continue by boat. Facilities at the airport are intentionally simple, with basic seating and limited services.
