About Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport

Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport is a county-owned public-use airport serving Brazoria County and the southern Greater Houston area. It functions mainly as a general aviation gateway for private, corporate and charter traffic rather than scheduled commercial airline service.

Located about 4 miles (6 km) southwest of central Angleton and north of Lake Jackson, the airport provides convenient access to the Texas Gulf Coast region. It lies roughly 60 km south of central Houston, with nearby communities including Freeport, Clute and the surrounding coastal area.

The airport was constructed between 1979 and 1981 on 435 acres, with land donated by Dow Chemical Company and purchased by Brazoria County. Its original 6,000-foot runway was extended by 1,000 feet in 1995 and later reconstructed with grooved concrete in 2009, giving the field a 7,000-foot runway and modern approach infrastructure.

Passenger and pilot facilities are centered on a single general aviation terminal with an on-site FBO. Travelers have access to a passenger terminal lounge, pilot lounge, the Runway Cafe, rental car facilities in the terminal, limousine service, a courtesy car and transient hangar parking. Onward travel is generally made by rental car, private transfer, chauffeur or other pre-arranged ground transport.
