About Tetlin Airport
Tetlin Airport is a small public-use airport serving Tetlin and the surrounding Upper Tanana communities in eastern interior Alaska. The airport is located about 1 mile south of Tetlin village and roughly 20 miles southeast of Tok, near the Alaska Highway corridor.
Operated by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities Northern Region, the airport was activated in its current form in 2005 following relocation of the village's earlier airstrip. It has a single gravel runway, designated 8/26, measuring 3,300 feet by 75 feet, with medium-intensity edge lighting.
The airport primarily supports general aviation and charter operations connecting remote communities; it has no scheduled airline service or passenger terminal. Travelers continue to Tetlin, Tok, Northway and other destinations by pre-arranged vehicle, since the village is linked to the Alaska Highway by the Tetlin Village Road.
Despite its limited amenities, Tetlin Airport provides an important year-round air link for a remote rural community where road access can be challenging, particularly in winter.
