Chingozi Airport is the main airport serving the city of Tete and Mozambique's Tete Province, an important mining and transport region along the Zambezi River. It links Tete with domestic destinations such as Maputo, Nampula, Beira and Quelimane, and with Johannesburg in South Africa.
Air services to Tete date back to 1940, and the airport's current passenger terminal was in full operation by 1981. Today the airport is managed by Aeroportos de Moçambique and operates a single runway and one compact passenger terminal.
