About Tengah Air Base
Tengah Air Base is a Republic of Singapore Air Force airfield in the western part of Singapore. Originally opened in 1939 as RAF Tengah, the base was renamed Tengah Air Base in 1971 and now supports the RSAF's airborne early warning and control assets, most of its F-16C/D Fighting Falcons and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Located in the Tengah area near Choa Chu Kang, Jurong and Bukit Batok, the base sits roughly 20 km northwest of central Singapore. It is primarily a military facility and does not handle scheduled commercial passenger flights.
The base is reached by road through Old Choa Chu Kang Road and the surrounding western Singapore road network, with connections to the Pan Island Expressway and other major routes for onward travel across the island.
As a restricted military installation, Tengah Air Base does not offer public passenger terminals, shopping or dining. Travellers arriving in Singapore by scheduled air services use Singapore Changi Airport, while Tengah remains focused on defence operations.
