About North West
North West Singapore, officially the North West District, stretches across the northern and north-western parts of the island and is one of Singapore's five Community Development Council districts. It covers areas including Woodlands, Yishun, Sembawang, Marsiling, Bukit Panjang and Bukit Timah, and serves as Singapore's northern gateway to Malaysia through the Woodlands Checkpoint and Causeway.
The district is best known for its green spaces and wildlife attractions. The Mandai Wildlife Reserve brings together Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders and Bird Paradise, while Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Kranji War Memorial, Sembawang Hot Spring Park and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve offer quieter outdoor escapes. Bukit Timah Hill, Singapore's highest point, sits within the district.
Neighbourhoods range from the busy Woodlands Regional Centre, with Causeway Point and the upcoming Singapore–Johor Bahru RTS Link at Woodlands North, to the established housing estates and hawker centres of Yishun, Sembawang and Bukit Panjang. The Rail Corridor and a network of parks and park connectors make the area popular for cycling and walking.
Woodlands and the surrounding industrial estates support logistics, manufacturing and technology businesses, while the district's links to Johor Bahru and Singapore Changi Airport keep it connected for commerce. It is served by the North-South Line, Thomson-East Coast Line and Downtown Line, plus the Bukit Panjang LRT.
For travellers, North West Singapore combines nature-based leisure, family attractions and practical access to Singapore's northern border, making it relevant for both holiday visits and business trips.
