About Telida Airport
Telida Airport is a small public-use airport serving Telida, a remote community on the Swift Fork of the Kuskokwim River in Alaska's Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area. It provides essential air access for the village and the surrounding Upper Kuskokwim country.
The airport opened in July 1964 and operates as an unattended airstrip with no control tower. Its single runway, designated 2/20, is a turf-and-dirt strip about 1,900 feet long and 40 feet wide, suitable for small aircraft and charter flights.
Because Telida is off the Alaska road system, the airport is the community's main link to the outside world. The nearest regional hub is McGrath, roughly 125 km (78 miles) to the west by air, with other nearby airstrips at Nikolai and Minchumina.
Facilities are minimal, and most visitors travel by small aircraft or arranged charter flights. Travelers should confirm weather, runway conditions and flight arrangements in advance, as the airstrip is unattended.
