About Teesside International Airport
Teesside International Airport is the main airport serving Darlington, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees and the wider Tees Valley and County Durham area in North East England. It provides connections to domestic and international destinations and supports both leisure and business travel in the region.
The site began as a former RAF airfield and a new passenger terminal opened in 1966; the facility was later known as Durham Tees Valley Airport before reverting to Teesside International Airport in 2019, followed by a terminal refurbishment completed in 2021.
Located about 9 km east of Darlington city centre and roughly 16 km southwest of Middlesbrough, the airport is reached by road and offers a compact, single-terminal layout with parking close to the building, so passengers can move between the car park, check-in and departure areas quickly.
Ground transport links include local bus services, the nearby Teesside Airport railway station, taxis and private transfers, while the terminal provides lounges, cafés, bars, shopping, free Wi-Fi and charging facilities for a convenient onward journey.
