About Tatakoto Airport
Tatakoto Airport is the only airfield serving Tatakoto atoll, part of the Tuamotu group of atolls in French Polynesia. It provides a vital domestic link between this remote atoll and Papeete on Tahiti, approximately 1,180 km away, with scheduled flights operated by Air Tahiti.
The airport sits about 1 km south of the village of Tumukuru, the main settlement on the atoll. Its single asphalt runway and compact passenger terminal handle a limited number of domestic flights, and the small scale of operations keeps arrivals and departures simple and quick.
Because the atoll has limited public transport, most visitors are met at the airport by their guesthouse or use pre-arranged transfers for the short drive into Tumukuru. Ground transportation options are limited, so planning ahead is recommended.
Despite its modest size, the airport plays an essential role for residents and travelers by keeping the atoll connected to the rest of French Polynesia through regular Air Tahiti services.
