About Tasiujaq Airport
Tasiujaq Airport is a small regional airport serving the Inuit village of Tasiujaq in Nunavik, northern Quebec. Opened in 1986, it is one of the airports owned by the Quebec Ministry of Transport and operated by the Kativik Regional Government, which has managed it since September 1996.
Located about 3 km southwest of the village, the airport provides the community's main year-round link to the outside world, since no road connects Tasiujaq to southern Quebec. Air Inuit operates the scheduled regional service, connecting Tasiujaq with Kuujjuaq and other communities along the Ungava Bay coast.
The airport has a single-storey passenger terminal and a gravel runway used by small turboprop aircraft. Facilities are limited to a waiting area and washrooms, so travellers should plan ahead and bring food, water, and essentials before a flight.
Because the journey between the airport and the village takes only a few minutes, the airport also supports essential services such as freight delivery and medical evacuations for the community and the wider region.
