About Syukuran Aminuddin Amir Airport

Syukuran Aminuddin Amir Airport is the main airport serving Luwuk and the Banggai Regency in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Formerly known as Bubung Airport, it was renamed in 2008 in honour of Syukuran Aminuddin Amir, the last Raja of Banggai. The airport connects this coastal region with major Indonesian cities through scheduled domestic flights.

Located about 10 km south of Luwuk city centre, the airport operates a single passenger terminal that opened in December 2018, replacing the older facility. The modern single-storey terminal covers approximately 5,000 m² and can serve around 350 passengers at peak times. Its 2,250 m runway accommodates narrow-body aircraft, supporting connections to Makassar, Jakarta and other domestic destinations.

Passengers can reach Luwuk by taxi, motorcycle taxi, or pre-arranged private transfer; the journey from the airport to the city centre normally takes about 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. There is no dedicated airport shuttle bus, so many visitors arrange hotel or private transfers in advance.

With a waiting lounge, cafés, local food stalls, shops, free Wi-Fi, a prayer room and limited ATM services, the airport functions as a practical gateway for travellers heading to Luwuk, the Banggai Islands, and onward journeys toward Ampana and the Togean Islands.
