About Stroud Municipal Airport
Stroud Municipal Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Stroud and Lincoln County, Oklahoma. Located about three miles north of the city centre, it sits along the historic Route 66 corridor between Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
The airport's history dates to 1931, when the Civil Aeronautics Administration leased land for use as an emergency landing field for military pilots, and it has been operated by the City of Stroud since 1943. Today the airport covers about 180 acres and supports roughly 3,600 takeoffs and landings each year with 16 based aircraft.
Aviation operations center on a single asphalt runway, 18/36. Recent state and federal investment has widened and extended the runway and added new LED runway lights and precision approach path indicators to improve safety and accommodate larger aircraft. There is no control tower, and pilots use the common traffic advisory frequency.
The airport provides fuel, aircraft maintenance, hangars, tiedown parking and a passenger lounge, and ground transportation can be arranged for the short drive into Stroud or onward travel to Oklahoma City, Tulsa and other central Oklahoma destinations.
